Logos and banners

By request, I've made a logo for wikimania and a banner for the site. There's a mockup at Main Page/mockup, if anyone's interested, and more details at m:user:Tlogmer#Wikimania. Tlogmer 21:35, 18 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Looking great. Sj 18:19, 4 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
We went with the original design, despite further color tests; but some of those others might make fine swag options.

Logo update

The new logo and banner can be put everywhere; the sitewide logo should be updated, and any websites with buttons pointing to this site should use the new logo as well. Thanks to tlogmer. Now for those laptop stickers... Sj 12:45, 4 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hold on

The colors haven't been finalized yet -- you can use the current logo, but it might get out of sync later. I've thrown together a comparison of color schemes: Logo colors. I think the second one and third ones bring out the butterfly motif best. (Some of these might be good for laptop stickers? I can make a monochrome one as well if necessary.) Alright, it's final (he said belatedly). Here are some Web buttons, too. Tlogmer 00:00, 6 July 2006 (UTC) c gfh jfReply

Tea party, anyone?

I invite everyone who visits this page to talk with others to a general discussion page, Wikimania:Tea party. Any talk, discussion, suggestion or applause are welcome. ;-) --Aphaia

Everyone could really use a nice cup of tea; perhaps two.
The site could use a drink^B^B^Btea machine, in fact. Sj 12:48, 4 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Oolong here. 16:31, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Spelling

programme, not program in this case

It's 'program' in American English. Brassratgirl 21:43, 26 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Those darned American postal abbreviations

Once again the fact that not everyone is American has been overlooked. That mysterious MA stands for Massachusetts I believe. There are probably about 6.2 billion people on the planet who don't know that. U.S. postal abbreviations are not part of the common heritage of humanity (How many UK postal abbreviations does the average American know? But then it doesn't matter because British users don't plaster them all over Wikipedia articles.) Please expand it to read Boston, Massachusetts. Thank you. 62.31.55.223 19:15, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, I suppose? 85.130.42.132 07:10, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's spelled out in the text directly below. Brassratgirl 21:42, 26 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Visas

As a side note, it's already too late for many of us to get an Unitedstatesian Visa. It takes about half a year to obtain one. Halibutt

Aye. And I shan't be attending on principle because it's held there. 72.9.105.34 08:33, 30 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I nominate Mexico for next time, please. 71.48.59.67 19:24, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Scholarship Deadlinee?

I just found out about Wikimania, and I'm interested in applying for a Scholarship. The deadline is 6/28 (which is today, for me, as I live in California...), but is it 6/28 11:59 PM PST or has the deadline already passed? (71.146.91.123 23:02, 28 June 2006 (UTC))Reply

hi! apply in a hurry :) Brassratgirl 05:15, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Schedule

I think the Conference Daily Schedule should be included under the 'Program and Calendar' section or somewhere prominent on the main page. Amongst other things, this will help people decide whether to request rooms for Thursday and Sunday nights based on the events that will take place early Friday and late Sunday. --12.42.50.52 13:06, 6 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

ah, but it is! But apparently invisible. I'll add a direct link to the main page, too. phoebe 22:27, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wikimania promo text?

Can someone create a promotional text for the front page of the Wikimedia Foundation website? I'm trying to rejuvinate it with new content. Please send to me at w:en:user:zanimum, so I can post. -- Zanimum 14:00, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Scholarship responses

Hi, Anyone have any idea when we'll hear the result of applications for scholarship cash? Also anyone know if when they're expecting to let everyone whose been accepted know by? Thanks. AllanHainey

Some of the definite yeses and no's have been mailed out; the remaining applicants are less certain. Responses will be coming over the course of the week. Sj 21:03, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, frankly speaking that is pretty late if you want to organize everything... not to mention that personally I haven't been sent any response so far and probably I'm not the only one... If the Foundation were that kind to send even the negative replies... 194.145.96.51 21:24, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Age

Im 14, can i go/register or w/e?

Hacking Days registration

It's currently closed. The main page should reflect that. --Davidstrauss 12:07, 28 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Proceedings page names

The page names don't reflect the content of the talks... they're of the format Proceedings:SA1. Could we move them to to pages with the talk's title as the page name? Or perhaps a combination, e.g. Proceedings:JD1:Identity, anonymity and the wiki. Then we can use our watchlists far more easily. It seems obvious to me, but it's a big job, and I thought discussion was warranted. --Singkong2005 (participating online) 05:10, 2 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Plainlinking

Does anyone have anything against plainlinking the external links? They look pretty unprofessional and don't work too well in this situation. Any objections? -Mysekurity 23:44, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Done

It happened. Things need to go to past tense. I'd edit if I could. BenFrantzDale 00:58, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lessons learned

Is there a space for collecting post-conference thoughts on things that worked well or didn't at the conference? Ike9898 14:55, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
