Abstract
Currently in use as the content management system for a small liberal arts college, molawiki is a MySQL/PHP wiki platform in active development. Though molawiki bears some design similarities to MediaWiki, it also entails some focus areas that mark it as a potentially interesting case study for Wikipedians. For instance, key molawiki features include 1) CSS id- and class-specifying wikitax situated to harmonize with a CSS attachment system 2) wikitax for limited AJAX operations; 3) an evolving Flex/Flash wikitext editing environment; 3) a tagging mechanism for pages; and 4) a PHP and javascript template programming interface that facilitates blogging, calendaring, and other arbitrary recontextualizations of wiki content. Additionally, because of its development history, molawiki is well-suited for deployment within the file space of an existing legacy website. Though in use, molawiki is still in a heavy development phase; a poster presentation will present overview of current state of the project as it careens towards an open-source release.
