Talk:Streaming audio and video
Can you please also indicate of the links are audio or video and of the are all ready live or only between particular hours? --Walter 11:30, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Why proprietary software?
Hi! I think it is great that you put video recording of the event but I wonder why you chose the proprietary format of Real Player. Isn't it against the wiki spirit?Ori Mosenzon 11:37, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- because that is what harvard has provided, and freematrix radio does not have the ability to provide video. audio will be provided later in ogg vorbis format -- AppleBoy
I've put up personally-created videos of a few sessions in another proprietary format, QuickTime, and linked them from the Archives section, don't know if that helps -- Raines
VLC Player half-success report
Audio seems to work (there are dropouts) but no video with VLC media player 0.5.3 -- 84.176.221.144 13:03, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Great!
Thank you for this great possibility. Now I can see the speeches from Boston without leaving Europe.
But at the moment there are problems.
user THOMAS from the German Wikipedia
- What problems? I'm in Canberra and having a great experience. Skyring 19:29, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm in the Netherlands and both streams are dead for over half an hour now. Dedalus 19:36, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Archives
Is there going to be an archive of all of the presentations? The Archives link seems to only have some of the plenary sessions.
Audio?
Will there be any audio streams available today (last nite video-streams across the Atlantic were broken). Dedalus 12:11, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Why unfree licences ?
Wikimedia hosts an important conference and lets some of the most famous scholars of our time talk. And then you place the recordings under unfree CC-BY-SA-NC-2.5 (non-commercial) licences, which are not compatible with the Wikimedia projects, and cannot be hosted on Commons? Example Yochai Benkler. Seriously, this is amateurish. Congrats. 89.53.253.251 17:41, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
